My Mam used to sing this to us bairns all the time. I can still hear her singing it now. She used to sing it to me in the pram. People say it’s weird that I can remember that far back but I do. I used to be put in one of them big metal Silver Cross prams with the big wheels and false bottom. I remember hearing this sound ‘clatter, clatter, clatter’. My Mam told me it was my Dad. He would go out walking with me and the pram, nick bits of copper piping, lift me out, hide them in the false bottom and away we went.
