This song is all about peace and friendship. It sums up the 1960’s. I used to wear a flowered shirt and flowery pants and the world was full of love. Those were days when you never locked your doors.
I grew up in Pennywell and it had a reputation as being a rough estate but even if you got broken into you would know who had done it.
I’ve got three grandchildren now aged 15, 13 and 8. I fear for them.
This song sums up a different time and different values. When I hear it now it makes me depressed for all we have lost.
