Angela: Tom Jones- It’s Not Unusual
He used to have a Jaguar. He had a good job working abroad on the rigs so when he had holidays he would want to stay in the UK. He was very patriotic. We would go to Scotland, the Lakes, Devon in his car.
He had these eight track cartridges – do you remember them? They were bigger and squarer than normal tapes. There was a special rack for them on the walnut dashboard. The seats were leather and had a partition in the middle where you could store things.
Dad always played Tom Jones on those journeys. Me and my sister would play games and sing in the back. Sometimes my cousins would come on holiday with us in their car and we would keep overtaking each other. I loved that.
